Apologies for not posting for a while. Things have been a little hectic but thankfully I had a portrait to be working on.  This was a birthday present.

Dazed and Refused

Dazed and Refused kicked off again yesterday night with a very enjoyable private view. Was a really good turn out and the standard of work was really high again! Check out http://www.dazedandrefused.com/refused/Home.html to see all the entries for this year and more information about the exhibit.

Wedding Cake

This is the top layer of a wedding cake I am making. It is a fruit cake, the other two layers are still to come as they are chocolate and lemon they have to made nearer the time, still 3 weeks to go.  So in-between working I have been working on the icing decorations. I think I have the top sorted now with the main decoration in place and then can work on the petal placement later. I've just put them on to get an idea of what it might look like.

And it all started out as humble ready to roll icing, these are the beginnings of making the roses and petals.

Flowers- Centre pieces

So.... Haven't blogged for a while, apologies for that. I have been spending my time wisely though...well most of it.   I have been working on some centre pieces for a wedding and making the wedding cake.  I have yet to find something to put them in. Thinking glass bowls.  These are hand-tied using silk flowers, a mix of peach and white roses with some tiny white berries and grass. I have made two so far and have four to go, as it is one for each of the tables.

Wedding Bouquet

A couple of weeks ago my friends Mum got married and I was asked to do the flowers. This is her bouquet.  I'm really happy with the way it came out, was quite fiddly to get the daffodils and roses to have an equal amount of prominence but got there in the end. It was a hand tied bouquet tied together with ribbon and then pinned.  I will post the button holes, corsage and bridesmaids bouquets when I get some pictures of them.

Corsage

My friends Mum is getting married next month an I have been asked to do the Bouquets, Buttonholes and Corsages for their big day! So had a quick practice on some daffodils I found in my garden. I had to wire the flowers first to give them more structure and then stuck them together. I have my work cut out but will post as I go!

Icing Roses

Bit different than my normal posting but I am quite proud of my attempt at making icing roses.
I was asked by my friend to make them to go on her wedding cake so thought best learn how to make them before I have to make the real things.

Chelmsford Arts trail

Long overdue post. This is what my Art trail exhibit in August this year looked like.
The trail was very successful generating lots of interest, thanks to the hard work of the
Shiny Shed. Well done to all the artist that took part.
